George Cadbury and his brother Richard
ran their factory using innovative management techniques. They created
a village (Bournville), around the factory, initially for the workers,
but soon for the whole community. Cadbury World and The Bournville
Village Trust developed a new attraction that gives a broader picture
of the Quaker values that shaped the village's development, and
the growth of the company.
The Bournville Experience is fully interactive,
allowing visitors to explore the development of the village, to
understand the principles that shaped Bournville, and remain in
place today. Visitors are able to step back in time to view an amazing
display of historical artefacts and can even step into the shoes
of Bournville residents by marvelling at the 'Suggested Rules of
Health,' a list of guidelines that village residents were encouraged
to study for a 'healthier and more cheerful' life.
